I consider myself lucky to have learned at an early age that I have a natural ability to connect with others, making my decision to pursue a degree in psychology feel like less of a career path and more of a calling. I graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology from Florida State University and later went on to complete my graduate studies at the University of Miami, where I earned a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I have been practicing ever since!
Over the last 8 years, I have narrowed my focus to all things women’s health. I have a passion for helping adolescent and young adult women especially, navigate big life transitions, interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, general stress, body image and self esteem issues, people pleasing tendencies and perfectionism, break ups, troubles trying to conceive and more.
When I’m not seeing clients, I enjoy indulging in some self care! I love starting my mornings with a sunrise walk or reformer Pilates class and I appreciate a quiet night in with a bubble bath or a good book (or both). I have a rescue pup with special needs named Brody and although he was meant to be an emotional support animal: it turns out I do more of the emotional support.
I love celebrating big life moments with my close friends and family and I’m known to have great taste in music, making me highly requested on the aux. Although therapists are notoriously private, I’m a firm believer that trust works both ways. So, as you allow me to get to know you… I am committed to building a relationship that allows you to get to know me better too!
I have not only witnessed, but have also experienced the profound impact that therapy can have on an individual.
As someone who has been on both sides of the couch,
As someone who has been on both sides of the couch, I have not only witnessed, but have also experienced the profound impact that therapy can have on an individual. In a world where many of us have learned to rely on AI and technology to solve our problems, I can say with confidence that there is nothing quite like the healing powers of real human connection.
It’s kind of a wild concept right?
Sitting in front of a total stranger, sharing deeply intimate and personal details about your life in the hopes that an exchange of words might be the catalyst for change. But that’s exactly why it works!
In the process of me getting to know you, you get to know yourself better, too. As you gain a better understanding of who you are, the challenges you face, and why it feels difficult to cope… you gain a sense of direction and control that will leave you feeling self assured, strong, empowered, and ready to tackle life stressors with more confidence than before.
Research suggests that a strong, trusting relationship between client and clinician is the most important predictor of positive results in therapy. Even more so than specific treatment modalities, length of care, years of experience, level of education, age… I could go on, but I think you get the point.
While I love what I do and am always up for a challenge, I recognize that I may not be the best fit for every client.. and that’s okay! If, for whatever reason, we’re not the right match, I’ll do my best to connect you with a therapist who is best suited to help you.
Above all else, having a therapist that you “click” with, one that you actually want to talk to, is what makes the magic happen, which is why -- like any other relationship I value and hold dear in my life -- I make every effort to nurture connections with my clients that are unique, personalized, and most importantly, human.
My approach is eclectic in nature, as I pull from a number of different treatment modalities to ensure that your experience “on the couch” is highly individualized and tailored specifically to you. No two sessions are the same, just like no two clients are the same. Depending on what your needs are and my assessment of what I feel you’d benefit most from, we’ll use a combination of the following therapies in our work together:
I believe in the power of holistic practices that target both physical and mental health, strengthening the mind/body connection. Over the years, I’ve found that my clients benefit most from therapy when they are open to exploring lifestyle changes outside of our sessions.
